City of Vaughan Awards Contract to WebTech

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA /Marketwire/ -- WebTech Wireless Inc., a leading provider of vehicle fleet location-based services and telematics technology, announced, it has been awarded a $671,000 contract extension for its InterFleet technology by the City of Vaughan, Ontario. The agreement is for a period of 5 years for the supply of global positioning system/automated vehicle locator (AVL) services.

"This contract extension is a strong demonstration of the quality of service we provide our customers and illustrates the benefit that our InterFleet technology provides to the public sector in managing and maintaining their fleets," said Owen Moore, WebTech's Chief Operating Officer. "Our AVL systems also help the city to ensure compliance with established levels of service and meet their objective of pursuing excellence in service delivery."

The initial contract was awarded in June 2006 for supply, installation, and monitoring of AVL units for over 253 city vehicles, and is scheduled to wrap up on December 31, 2010. The new contract will extend the existing contract to December 31, 2015, and will primarily focus on providing on-going services relating to the maintenance and monitoring of the already installed AVL units. Services will also include the storage of historical data on the company's server, updating the Vaughan maintenance Web site, and broadcasting and upkeep of the "Where is My Snow Plow" public Web site.

"The extension of this contract will allow the Public Works Department, Enforcement Services, and the Parks and Forestry Operations Department to continue on seamlessly with the delivery of services, monitoring of maintenance activities, and providing the level of service the public has come to expect for maintenance monitoring," said Brian T. Anthony, Director of Public Works of the City of Vaughan. "Retaining with this current service provider is also allowing the city's public winter maintenance Web site map to be maintained, and allow us to communicate the status of snow-clearing activities to our residents."
