UPSICAP sensors from UPSI, France, distributed in the U.S. by Saelig Co. Inc., Pittsford, NY, are a range of passive and active devices that measure ambient temperature and RH. The 9 by 8 mm passive elements vary their capacitance with humidity and their resistance with temperature and are fully interchangeable without recalibration. The devices use a 4-layer construction to give them a 0.25 s response time and the ability to remain unaffected by condensation and water immersion. Measuring ranges are 0%–100% RH and –90°C to 85°C. Output frequency varies with humidity and temperature is indicated by either NTC variable resistance, linear platinum sensor, or linear voltage output.
