Cirrus Logic Inc., Austin, TX, introduces its CS556x/7x/8x family of 16- and 24-bit ADCs that combine the higher-bandwidth, low-distortion performance of a SAR converter with the high-resolution, low-noise performance of a delta sigma ADC. Features include DNL error as low as ±0.04 LSB typ. (CS5571), single-clock latency digital filter, near-flat digital FIR filter characteristics, high-impedance buffered inputs, fully differential inputs, self-calibration, and a flexible serial interface. The 50 Ksps, 24-bit CS5560 has 20 μs conversion time, 0.0007% linearity error, 110 dB SNR, and settles in one conversion. The 100 Ksps, 16-bit CS5571 has 10 μs conversion time, 0.0007% linearity error, 92 dB SNR, and ±0.1 LSB max. DNL.
