The KMX61G from Kionix Inc., Ithaca, NY, is a 6-axis combination accelerometer and magnetometer that, with its sensor fusion software, can provide accurate gyro emulation. Measurement ranges are ±1200 µT for the magnetometer and user-programmable ±2 g, ±4 g, or ±8 g F.S. for the accelerometer. The 3 by 3 by 0.9 mm device can provide 9-axis accelerometer, magnetometer, and gyro outputs with 14-bit resolution and features a 512 byte FIFO buffer with watermarking, an embedded temperature sensor, 5 µA current draw standby and 550 µA at full operation, and a low-power embedded motion wake-up function.
