The FreeSpace FSM-9 fully integrated 9-axis IMU from Hillcrest Labs, Rockville, MD, is intended for high-quality motion-controlled products such as wearable computing and head-mounted displays (HMDs) for augmented reality, virtual reality, and military simulation. The device integrates a triaxial digital MEMS gyroscope, triaxial digital MEMS accelerometer, and a triaxial magnetometer and combines it with the company's MotionEngine sensor fusion software and a 32-bit microcontroller for 360° of high-performance motion data, including heading, linear acceleration, angular position, angular velocity, and cursor position. Features include configurable sampling rates, contextual smoothing, calibration, and advanced magnetic field interference tracking and filtering.
