9-Axis Motion Sensor from InvenSense

The MPU-9350 from InvenSense Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, combines an accelerometer, gyroscope, and electronic compass into a 3 by 3 by 1 mm QFN package. The device draws 6.7 mW and its integrated Digital Motion Processor (DMP) offloads high-frequency motion algorithm computations from the host application processor, reducing interrupts and host MIPS cycles to improve overall system power and performance. F.S. ranges are ±250°/s to ±2000°/s for the gyroscope, ±2 g to ±16 g for the accelerometer, and ±4800 µT for the 16-bit compass. The device has gyroscope output noise of 0.1°/s-rms and incorporates 16-bit ADCs, programmable digital filters, and an embedded temperature sensor. MotionApps software and MotionFusion firmware are included.
