The AS5030 and AS5130 from Austriamicrosystems AG, Unterpremstaetten, Austria, are 8-bit absolute magnetic rotary encoder ICs with pushbutton and low-power-mode features. Angle resolution is 1.4° over a full 360° turn, accessible via SSI or PWM outputs. The AS5030 also offers low-power sleep mode, which can be user-set. Both ICs operate from a 5 V supply, have an operating temperature range of –40°C to 125°C, and operate at rotational speeds up to 30,000 rpm.
