8-Bit Hall Encoder from iC-Haus

8-Bit Hall Encoder from iC-Haus
iC-Haus GmbH

The iC-MP from iC-Haus GmbH, Bodenheim, Germany, is a linear-output angular position sensor IC with a serial interface. Combined with a diametrically magnetized permanent magnet, the device provides an absolute and incremental encoder with 1.4° resolution. The 4 by 4 mm QFN28 package contains the integrated Hall sensors with signal amplifier and gain control, an ADC to transfer the 8-bit digital data into a linear ramp, and a serial interface. The linear output can be programmed for the rotating direction and for angular ranges of 90°, 180°, 270°, or 360°. Output swings rail to rail but can be set to 10%–90% of the supply voltage.
