The MRF24J40MA from Microchip Technology Inc., Chandler, AZ, is an FCC-certified RF transceiver module designed to operate in the 2.4 GHz ISM band for the IEEE 802.15.4 specification. The surface-mountable module can be used with hundreds of 8-, 16-, or 32-bit PIC microcontrollers and is supported by the company's PICDEM Z demo kit and the ZENA wireless network analyzer and with the company's free ZigBee, MiWi, and MiWi P2P (Peer-to-Peer) software protocol stacks. The module includes discrete biasing components and an integrated PCB antenna. Applications include industrial monitoring and control, home and building automation, remote control, low-power wireless sensor networks, lighting control, and automated meter reading.
