The PIC24F GA3 family from Microchip Technology Inc., Chandler, AZ, are eXtreme low power (XLP) microcontrollers with 150 µA/MHz active current and 6 DMA channels. Suited for use in consumer, industrial, medical, and metering applications, the MCUs feature a new, low-power sleep mode with RAM retention down to 330 nA; VBAT for battery backup of the on-chip real-time clock calendar, an integrated LCD driver, and a Charge Time Measurement Unit (CTMU) that can be used for mTouch capacitive sensing, ultrasonic flow measurement, and other sensors. The on-chip 12-bit ADC has threshold detection and works with the CTMU to perform proximity sensing while the MCU is in sleep mode.
