Palo Alto Networks to buy Zingbox to boost IoT security

Palo Alto Networks will acquire IoT security provider Zingbox for $75 million in cash early next year.

Zingbox relies on cloud-based services, AI and machine learning for IoT security, features that will boost Palo Alto’s IoT security capabilities in its Next-Generation Firewall and Cortex products, Palo Alto said in a statement.

Palo Alto CEO Nikesh Arora said the Zingbox acquisition will lead to a unique subscription for Cortex and Next-Gen customers to give them control and security of IoT devices at scale.

Zingbox products will still be available to customers following the deal. The company’s founders Xu Zou, May Wang, and Jianlin Zeng will join Palo Alto.

Palo Alto Chief Product Officer Lee Klarich told CRN that the acquisition means customers can get IoT security without any additional hardware.
