IDT announces device samples to reduce wireless charging time

Integrated Device Technology announced samples of two devices that together enable smartphones to charge wirelessly with up to 30 W of power.

IDT’s P9415 receiver and P9247 transmitter work together to reduce wireless charging time, narrowing the gap between wired and wireless charging, the company said.

“Very fast wireless charging for smartphones has been the holy grail in the industry for the last eight years,” said Christopher Stephens, general manager of IDT’s wireless power division. “We expect this release to spur even broader adoption of wireless charging in 4G and 5G smartphones.”

The P9415 receiver works with IDT’s Wattshare technology to unlock the potential for OEMs to charge smartwatches, ear buds and other wearables. The P9247 transmitter delivers 30W of power and includes new technology for real-time foreign object detection.
