Best laugh-out-loud TV shows for engineers, by engineers

Our previous list of best TV shows according to engineers skewed heavily toward dystopian science fiction plots. Some are so bleak, they make what’s going on in the real world seem a little less scary.

This list features far lighter fare, because frankly we’re all in need of a good laugh. Better yet, many of these shows are oldies-but-goodies, with multiples of seasons available—679 episodes of The Simpsons alone!--which should keep you busy for some time to come.

Here’s the list—in rank order--of the top 10 comic series, along with a brief synopsis of each.

So, pop some popcorn, grab the remote, and settle in for a bingefest of fun this weekend. You’ve earned it.

The Simpsons: With 679 episodes, it’s super binge time.

Silicon Valley: Insightful look at misadventures of nerd programmers.

The Office: You’ve worked with people like this.

Seinfeld: A show about nothing and everything.

Parks and Recreation: Like The Office, only greener.

Futurama: Slacker guy travels galaxy delivering packages.

Rick and Morty: Sociopath scientist embarks on wacky adventures.

How I Met Your Mother: Best use of flashbacks in sitcom history.

30 Rock: Behind the scenes showrunner shenanigans.

Brooklyn 99: Police procedural comedy crossover.
