ams ships three new temperature sensors for diverse uses

ams announced three new ultra-low power temperature sensors for use across consumer electronics and wearables as well as health monitoring and HVAC systems.

The Austrian-based company described its new AS621X generation of sensors as based on a 1.5 mm2 wafer level scale package. The sensors rely on an industry-standard serial interface with eight address for easy prototyping, the company said in a statement on Monday.

That means the sensors are ideal for battery-operated devices, from wearables to laptops and tablets.

They come in three accuracy versions to match customer requirements. They are factory calibrated for accuracy up to plus or minus 0.2 degrees Celsius. They can be soldered onto a PCB with no further calibration.

Pricing starts at 0.62 Euros (or $0.68) in orders of 1,000, and an evaluation board is available.  A data sheet is available online.

ams employs 9,000 people and has more than 8,000 customers globally.
