The PolyZen YC Zener device series offers an integrated approach to protecting consumer electronics, such as tablets, set-top boxes, hard disk drives and DC power ports, from ESD and other electrical over-stress events. The PolyZen ZEN056V230A16YC and ZEN056V260A16YC combine a precision Zener diode and a resettable PolySwitch PPTC (polymer positive temperature coefficient) device in a 4 mm x 5 mm x 1.2 mm package. The Zener diode is thermally connected to the PPTC device to enable rapid heat transfer, which in turn increases the PPTC device’s reaction time. A single hybrid PolyZen YC is able to simultaneously protect against damage from overvoltage, overcurrent, reverse-bias, ESD, and over-temperature events. Other features include up to 2.6A hold-current at room temperature, ±30 kV ESD protection, and over-voltage protection (8/20 ms at 150A).
