WWT, AeroScout Provide Wireless Temperature Monitoring

ST. LOUIS, MO --(BUSINESS WIRE)--World Wide Technology, Inc. (WWT), a market-leading systems integrator that provides innovative technology and supply chain solutions, and AeroScout, Inc., the leading provider of Unified Asset Visibility for the healthcare industry, announced the deployment of a cutting-edge temperature monitoring solution for Providence Health & Services (PH&S). WWT and AeroScout worked together to implement the Wi-Fi-based solution, which leverages PH&S' existing wireless infrastructure to help the healthcare provider actively monitor, track and log temperature information at its 390-bed Olympia, WA, facility. PH&S is a 27 hospital, 46,000 employee healthcare system, which operates in Alaska, Washington, Montana, Oregon and California.

"PH&S is completely committed to ensuring regulatory compliance and delivering the very best clinical care to our patients, and our new temperature monitoring solution helps us do both," said Curt Kwak, CIO of PH&S' Western Washington Region. "We're also enhancing operational efficiency with this new tool, as it eliminates the need for multiple departments to manually check and log temperatures. Plus, WWT and AeroScout smartly took advantage of our existing wireless technology, further improving the TCO of our existing Wi-Fi infrastructure."

The Wi-Fi temperature monitoring solution improves patient safety and reduces liability risks for PH&S by proactively alerting staff whenever temperature thresholds are crossed, so they can immediately address heating or cooling issues for items such as medications, food, organs, blood bags, vaccines, tissues, breast milk and other sensitive items.

WWT provided PH&S with a Wi-Fi-based solution that was easy to deploy and required no dedicated sensor network. To implement this solution, WWT integrated Cisco's Unified Wireless Network with AeroScout's T5 Sensor Tags and its Web-based MobileView software, which provides real-time alerts, on demand and scheduled reports as well as alert dashboards and hospital map views of refrigeration units. AeroScout's MobileView also provides historical data and corrective action logging for regulatory compliance.

Temperature Monitoring is part of AeroScout's comprehensive Condition Monitoring solution that automates the measurement of air temperatures, liquid temperatures and humidity levels. "In addition to Temperature Monitoring, our healthcare solutions include Humidity Monitoring, Asset Management, Patient and Staff Safety and Workflow Management," said Gabi Daniely, vice president of marketing and product strategy at AeroScout. "Importantly, all of our solutions leverage hospitals' existing Wi-Fi networks, which results in cost-efficient and rapid deployments."

"We are very excited to be able to put our people, processes and partnerships together for the benefit of PH&S and their patients," said Bob Olwig, vice president of strategy at World Wide Technology. "Our deep wireless technology expertise, strong relationship with PH&S and our partnerships with Cisco and AeroScout helped us to derive real value from PH&S' current IT infrastructure, which streamlined the project and reduced costs overall."
