The BULLET WirelessHART adapter from MACTek Corp., Gates Mills, OH, supplied by Moore Industries-International Inc., North Hills, CA, enables existing wired HART field devices to communicate with host applications using WirelessHART. The adapter can be used with both analog and HART-enabled devices and is wired directly to a standard HART field device or connected anywhere on the 4–20 mA loop. A wired HART field device retrofitted with the BULLET communicates its analog process variable over the existing wiring to the existing DCS; the BULLET simultaneously communicates with the digital PV and device diagnostic information over the WirelessHART network. Applied to an analog-only device, the BULLET transmits a digital representation of the 4–20 mA PV to the control room over the WirelessHART network.
