The TC-LINK-6CH from MicroStrain Inc., Williston, VT, is a wireless thermocouple node with 6 thermocouple channels, embedded cold junction compensation, and the ability to add a humidity sensor. The IEEE 802.15.4-based node offers 70 m LOS range with standard antennas (up to 280 m LOS with high-gain antennas); 2 MB nonvolatile Flash memory for up to 300,000 data points; a 24-bit delta-sigma ADC; support for Type J, K, R, S, T, E, and B thermocouples; and a sample rate of 1 sample/minute for all 6 thermocouple channels. Current draw is 85 µA. Applications including concrete maturation, industrial sensing networks, machine thermal management, food and transportation systems, advanced manufacturing, and assembly-line testing with smart packaging.
