Powercast Corp., Pittsburgh, PA, has added the WSN-1101 and WSN-1102 battery-powered wireless sensors that work with the company's WSG-101 wireless gateway. The 4 by 2 by 1 in. WSN-1101 measures temperature, humidity, light, and external temperature and uses a preinstalled, long-life, nonreplaceable battery that lets it transmit data once per minute for >25 yr. without maintenance. The WSN-1101 can also be configured with replaceable lithium batteries for 15 yr. of battery life. The WSN-1102 wireless carbon dioxide sensor can operate on batteries for 3–15 yr., depending on the user-selected data transmission intervals. The device is self-calibrating and has a measurement range of 0–5000 ppm.
