The Imote2 from Crossbow Technology Inc., San Jose, CA, is the company's next-generation hardware platform for wireless sensor network research and development. It integrates a PXA271 Intel XScale processor and an 802.15.4 radio with a built-in 2.4 GHz antenna. The processor can be configured to support a low-voltage, low-frequency mode (0.85 V, 13 MHz), as well as other scalable processing modes up to 416 MHz. I/O and sensor interfaces on the board let you develop and integrate sensor boards. The 802.15.4 standards-compliant radio supports a 250 Kbps data rate with 16 channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Typical range is 100 ft.
