The mXRS extended-range, synchronized wireless sensing system from MicroStrain Inc., Williston, VT, combines a central base station to coordinate and synchronize data collection, software, and a range of wireless sensor nodes. It can accommodate hundreds of nodes with extended range communication to 1 km. The WSDA-Base base station provides timing accuracy of up to ±31 µs. Node Commander 2.0 software has a range of user-adjustable sample rates and lets you facilitate high-channel-count DA. The sensor nodes have ultra-stable onboard precision timing and user-configurable options for the extended range communication. Applications include condition-based maintenance and structural health monitoring of heavy equipment, industrial machines, aircraft, civil structures, and wind turbines.
