ROHM’s SMLD12WBN1W white chip LED in a 1608 package measuring 1.6 mm x 0.8 mm is said to achieve class-leading reliability, superior mountability, and a long operational life for use in industrial and compact consumer equipment. Tests have demonstrated that the SMLD12WBN1W maintained 100% of its luminosity after operating for 1,000 hours at 25°C, IF=20 mA. This represents an improvement of 20x in operational life when compared to similar products. Additional tests showed that the package strength was improved 25 times with the new material when compared to products using silicone resin.
