The SiteConnex VSA-2215 from Datastick Systems Inc., Santa Clara, CA, is a handheld vibration analyzer/data collector that uses a Palm Treo smart phone. The VSA-2215 hardware module attaches to the Palm Treo and has a standard BNC connector and low-noise input that accommodates and powers almost any ICP-type piezoelectric accelerometer. The analyzer has a max. frequency of 20,000 Hz and FFT resolution of up to 3200 lines. Software is included for handheld file-management, data comparison, and email. Measurement data are saved in the smart phone's internal memory or on SD memory cards; vibration data are exported to the desktop PC via Palm HotSync, SD card, or via email from the smart phone.
