The VEH-460 from Ferro Solutions Inc., Woburn, MA, converts small amplitude vibrations into a useful, rectified 3.3 VDC voltage. The device can be adjusted to produce maximum power at a range of frequencies, including 60 Hz, allowing users to adjust the harvester to better suit their particular application. Power output at 60 Hz is 0.3 mW, 1.3 mW, or 5.2 mW for accelerations of 25 mg, 50 mg, or 100 mg, respectively. The device is 68 mm high and weighs 430 g. Applications include equipment health monitoring for transportation, aerospace, and other environments; asset tracking; and wireless sensor systems.
