ViaLogy’s SPM Approved by National Incident Management System

PASADENA, CA /PRNewswire/ -- ViaLogy LLC, a leading innovator of real-time, network-centric signal-processing platforms, announces that its product Sensor Policy Manager (SPM), for sensor interoperability and integration, has received unqualified approval from America's National Incident Management System (NIMS) Support Center, a division of the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency. NIMS awarded SPM top marks in all tested categories.

NIMS has been established by the U.S. government to deal with national emergency situations, including terrorist attacks. It enables responders from different jurisdictions and disciplines to work together to respond to natural disasters and emergencies, including acts of terrorism. Benefits include a unified approach to incident management; standard command and management structures; and emphasis on preparedness, mutual aid, and resource management.

Key to any emergency situation response is the ability of all the different sensors involved to integrate information and prioritize alerts. ViaLogy's SPM is designed specifically to enable this to happen seamlessly and immediately. In recent weeks, NIMS engineers have been subjecting the product to extensive and rigorous testing. They have determined that SPM meets all its required standards. "The product is consistent with the concepts and principles of NIMS," concludes the evaluation report. "It is applicable to all 15 emergency support functions, all six hazard groups, and to a multi-jurisdictional response." In each case, the tests marked SPM five out of five. In addition, the report praised the speed at which SPM could be incorporated in any sensor and the fact that it takes just 20 hours to fully train an SPM operator.

"We are absolutely delighted with the NIMS validation," said Robert W. Dean, President and CEO of ViaLogy. "Our SPM product is designed to enable a coordinated, proactive response by all the emergency services involved in dealing with an emergency incident. Quite simply, it will help to save lives. Most importantly, the system is sensor agnostic, so it can create instant communication among a wide variety of sensors used in a range of safety, security, and emergency response applications."

ViaLogy is also participating in additional validation demonstrations with a number of manufacturers involved in producing and integrating commercial security systems.
