The LPU-2428 from Automation Products Group Inc., Logan, UT, is a loop-powered ultrasonic level sensor with microprocessor control and the ability to internally perform volume, flow, and totalization calculations. The IP65-rated sensors provide a 1–25 ft. detection range and are designed for liquid flowrate, volume measurement, determining distance, and level. The transducer housing is PVDF (Kynar), the sensor housing is PC/PET, operating temperature range is –40°C to 60°C, resolution is 0.1 in., accuracy is ±0.25% of the detected range, and response time is 0.6–3 s, depending on output range. Built-in formulas include those for Parshall and cut-throat flumes and California-pipe, rectangular, and v-notch weirs; equation-based calculations are also possible.
