Ultrasonic Sensor Family Expands

Ultrasonic Sensor Family Expands
Baumer Ltd.

Providing alternatives to photoelectrics in more harsh environments, Baumer expands its portfolio of NextGen sensors to include the U500 Series ultrasonic sensor. With the same design, dimensions and application concept as its O500 Series photoelectric counterpart, the U500 provides more flexibility from system planning to implementation. With a sensing distance of up to 1,000 mm, the U500 is also dust and dirt resistant. Its symmetrical sonic beam angle has a diameter of 80 mm at an object distance of 500 mm. Other features include the qTeach and qTarget technology in addition to the company’s OneBox design. The qTeach function allows programming of the sensor without causing wear by touching it with a ferromagnetic tool and qTarget saves installation time: by design, the sonic beam angle is aligned to the mounting holes so that the U500 can be incorporated into the CAD design plan early on without fear of alignment issues during production.
