The 8360 noncontacting throughhole position sensor from BEI Duncan Electronics, Irvine, CA, provides 360° continuous rotational capabilities in a low-profile package. Features include a hollow-shaft package <16 mm thick, ability to distinguish 0.088° increments with better than ±2° accuracy, 12-bit resolution, redundant dual analog outputs, IP65 sealing, a –30°C to 85°C operating temperature range, and the ability to withstand vibration up to 10 G,10–100 Hz, total PSD of 4.94 Grms and 50 G shock with half-sine pulse of 11 ms duration. It is suited for harsh environment applications such as industrial vehicles/material handling, agricultural and construction equipment, process controls, robotics, medical systems, and valve actuation.
