The Temperature Product Group of Measurement Specialties Inc., Dayton, OH, offers the 55000 Series GEM (glass encapsulated material) thermistors. The thermistors are produced using an automated manufacturing process that eliminates the variation normally involved in manual assembly by using robotic cells to encapsulate the conducting material in glass. Automated, closed-loop calibration produces thermistors with the same interchangeability with a smaller size than higher-end glass thermistors. The devices are designed for temperature measurement applications that require stability and protection from moist environments.
