Table-Top Robot Is Flexible And Plays Nice With Humans
Universal Robot USA, Inc.

Described as the market’s most flexible, light-weight table-top robot, the UR3 robot balances reliable performance with affordability and can work next to people with no safety guarding. It weighs 24.3 lbs. yet has a payload of 6.6 lbs., provides 360º rotation on all wrist joints, and infinite rotation on the end joint. The robot provides 15 adjustable safety settings, one of which is a unique force sensing that enables the UR3 to limit forces at contact if the robot collides with a human. Default force sensing is 150 Newton but can be set to stop if it encounters a force as low as 50 Newton. Other features include 0.1-mm repeatability and the ability to pick up screws, mount, and tighten them applying the correct torque. In gluing applications, UR3 can dose exactly the same amount of glue with constant and steady pressure along a narrowly defined path. Applications include soldering, gluing, screwing, painting, pick and place, lab work, and fume hoods.
