STX Europe Sets Sail with Sixnet Industrial Connectivity

BALLSTON LAKE, NY --(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Sixnet, a global market leader of machine-to-machine (M2M) networking solutions for industrial and commercial markets, announced that Autic Systems AS, a distributor of industrial automation systems in Norway, is equipping STX Europe (formerly Aker Yards Electro) ships with marine-certified industrial connectivity from Sixnet.

As a global shipbuilder focused on ships and offshore vessels, STX requires rugged, easy-to-implement equipment designed to withstand harsh marine environments. Sixnet's industrial RTUs, I/O modules and switches allow STX to reliably support a wide range of inputs and outputs over a redundant high-speed ring network. The flexibility and durability of Sixnet's automation and switch products enable STX to deliver high-quality integrated automation and power management systems to ship owners.

"Our clients demand reliable and flexible solutions capable of performing regardless of environmental conditions or location," said Petter Kvalberg, managing director at Autic Systems. "By partnering with Sixnet to deliver rugged solutions, we have been meeting STX's marine requirements effectively since 2006."

Sixnet products are independently tested and certified to ABS marine and maritime standards. Sixnet has also verified its offerings against DNV No. 2.4 and Lloyds to meet stringent marine requirements, including extended temperature ranges, humidity, vibration, emissions, high voltage and power supply variations.

"Sixnet's marine-certified industrial solutions are ideal for harsh environments such as those faced by the Norwegian shipbuilding industry," said Marita Heath, director of automation solutions at Sixnet. "This project exemplifies how the flexibility and scalability of our products makes Sixnet solutions suitable for the most rugged and complex environments."
