Formerly a Celesco product, Measurement Specialties offers the M150, which it describes as the world’s smallest string pot. The component measures 0.74 x 0.74 x 0.38 in. with a full stroke range of 0 to 1.5 in. Target apps include structural, aerospace, automotive testing, motor and motion control, and medical devices. The M150 linear position sensor consists of a measuring cable, spool, spring, and rotational sensor and does not require perfectly parallel cable alignment to work. Output is high-level dc analog and the component performs with virtually any data-acquisition system
Specifications include an operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C, a maximum weight of 0.5 oz., the ability to follow motions accelerating to 39g, a sensitivity of 897 mV/V to 924 mV/V full stroke, and a lifespan up to five-million cycles.
