Step-Down Controller Draws Little Current

Step-Down Controller Draws Little Current
Linear Technology Corp.

Drawing only 75 µA when regulating output voltages with no load, the LT3840 synchronous step-down dc/dc controller includes a 7.5V buck-boost bias voltage to provide gate drive over a 2.5V to 60V input range. Output voltage can be set from 1.25V to 60V at output currents up to 30A with efficiencies as high as 95%. Additional features include up to 99% duty cycle for low voltage dropout, over-and under-voltage lockouts, soft-start/tracking, and a power good signal. Available in 28-lead TSSOP and 4 mm x 6 mm QFN-38 packages, pricing starts at $3.65 each/1,000. A datasheet is available at http://cds.linear.com/docs/en/datasheet/3840f.pdf.
