Speed Sensor for Turbochargers from Oxford RF Sensors

Speed Sensor for Turbochargers from Oxford RF Sensors
Oxford RF Sensors Ltd.

Oxford RF Sensors Ltd., Weston on the Green, Oxford, U.K., offers a speed sensor for next-generation automotive turbochargers. The system uses a 6 mm dia. probe that can withstand operating temperatures up to 350°C, can measure rotational speeds greater than 400,000 rpm, regardless of blade material, and has a range of >2 mm even where the blade thickness is <0.4 mm. The sensor uses the company's RF technology, operates from a 5 VDC supply, and can be separated from its electronics by up to 3 m. The output, with amplitude independent of speed, is fed directly into the ECU or converted into a pulse/blade or pulse/revolution. The sensor is self-calibrating.
