SMRP and EFNMS Sign Joint Business Plan

MCLEAN,VA -- The Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP) and the European Federation of National Maintenance Societies (EFNMS vzw) signed their first joint agreement to develop and market a compilation of global maintenance and reliability indicators. The document will contain those SMRP metrics which have been harmonized to maintenance indicators in European Standard EN 15341 "Maintenance Key Performance Indicators." Harmonized indicators are those which are similar between the SMRP and EN 15431, and those for which any differences can be identified. The harmonized indicators provide a common platform for global organizations to benchmark their facilities across borders.

The harmonization effort has been underway by the SMRP Best Practices Committee and EFNMS Benchmarking Committee for the past three years, and resulted in publication of the first edition of the "Global Maintenance and Reliability Indicators" at Euromaintenance 2008. These indicators are also used in international benchmarking workshops sponsored by the EFNMS.

Two track sessions at SMRP's annual conference in St. Louis, Missouri, USA on October 19–23, 2009 will be offered on maintenance and reliability indicators; one track session will focus on the entire set of SMRP metrics and another will focus on those metrics that have been harmonized to the European standard. Additionally, a full day workshop will be offered on the final day of the conference on the application of the SMRP metrics.
