Texas Instruments Inc., Dallas, TX, offers the TMDSPLCKIT-V3 power line communications (PLC) development kit that couples the Piccolo floating-point microcontroller and AFE031 analog front end to provide all the key components required for advanced Smart Grid applications. The PLC modem system can support multiple standards and modulation schemes, such as PRIME, G3-PLC< FlexOFDM, and PLC-Lite libraries, including CENELEC bands A, B, C, and D, and FCC band. The company has also released a new Wireless M-Bus (WMBUS) protocol stack for standardized low-power wireless communication and to enable wireless meter reading. The stack also includes connectivity capabilities via the company's CC1101 and CC1120 wireless transceivers and the CC430 platform.
