SF-TRU Enters Gen 2

MKS Instruments’ Spectral Focusing - Timing and Recombination Unit (SF-TRU) is the company’s second-generation TRU and has been upgraded to add grating pairs for adjustable chirp control in the fixed and tunable beam paths of dual wavelength, dual output femtosecond lasers such as the Spectra-Physics InSight X3 dual output laser.  A resonant electro-optic modulator (EOM) is also included for spectral focusing CARS and SRS applications, with spectral resolution down to 5 cm-1.  The SF-TRU is flexibly designed to facilitate a variety of single- and dual-beam multiphoton imaging and ultrafast spectroscopy applications including CARS, SRS, Transient Absorption, TPEF, SHG, THG, FRET, and others.

The SF-TRU was designed in MKS’s Technology and Applications Center (TAC) using the highest quality and performance Newport photonic components.  The SF-TRU allows researchers to switch between single- to dual-beam, and femtosecond to picosecond output modes, while maintaining beam alignment.  The SF-TRU includes ultrafast variable attenuators on both laser inputs for 0-2 OD attenuation control.
