Sensors Expo West 2018: Location Awareness And Its Place In The IIoT

By simple definition, location awareness is merely knowing where you are and where you stand in relation to your surroundings. This is something most humans know without thinking about too much. Where are you? I’m in the coffee shop.

In the grand wazoo of technology, location awareness is just bit more complex. Here we relate location awareness to diverse devices that can determine their location. When we are knee-deep in automation and artificial intelligence driven applications, more devices are operating in applications where they need to be in different location to perform certain tasks. The ability for the device to know where it is, would be the first step of knowing where it needs to go to perform a dedicated task.

Systems for providing this form of control range from basic to complex, again depending on the application. Today, location awareness is obviously a key concern for autonomous vehicles and automated processes in industrial and IoT spaces.  One of the best ways, if not the best way, to learn the ins, outs, and in-betweens of location awareness technology is to attend Sensors Expo & Conference West 2018, that’s the first stem. Second, you need to attend the presentation titled “Location Awareness for Industrial IoT” on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 11:00 AM to 11:50 AM in meeting room 212AB

Jens Albers, CEO of Nanotron Technologies and Rainer Hach, Nanotron Technologies CTO will present and discuss the potential and benefits of location awareness in the context of different applications. The combination of sensor and location information enables smart items and new applications and services will be discussed in depth. Also, cutting-edge technologies will be reviewed and current trends will be identified.

Jens Albers brings a strong background of leading high-tech businesses with considerable experience as an entrepreneurial company builder. Joined Nanotron in 2004, serial entrepreneur; co-founder of Multilink Technology Corp. (MLTC) - IPO at NASDAQ in June 2001; Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany. Led successful acquisition of Nanotron by Sensera Ltd. in August 2017.

Coming from Daimler Chrysler, Rainer Hach joined Nanotron Technologies in 1998 and participated in the fundamental development of technologies and patents. He has a profound knowledge of digital signal processing and system design and is the technical editor for IEEE and ISO standards governing Nanotron products. He holds a M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Technical University Berlin, Germany.

It should quite obvious that you need to attend, so let’s perform a little location awareness exercise. Right now, you are here, reading this article. Next you need to be HERE to register.
