Sensors Expo 2019: Opps for Printed, Flexible, Stretchable & Functional Fabric Sensors

There’s no question that the market for wearable sensor-based electronics is here to stay and is escalating daily. Not only is there great room for improvement on existing products, but there are vast opportunities for developing innovative devices in just about every market from medical to military and beyond, limited only by the imagination of designers and the complexities of business management. Therefore, it’s important to stay on top of all the latest developments in this expanding arena as well as new materials and emerging technologies that can accelerate the imagination of engineers and designers.

Speaking of the use of new materials, new inroads are being cut with the use of paper, plastic, and fabric in the creation of sensors and sensor-based systems. These highly flexible materials can fit into some of the tightest quarters and offer unique levels of reliability. So what’s to know and where do you go to get this knowledge?

At Sensors Expo & Conference 2019 in San Jose, CA, on Tuesday June 25, 2019 from 9 AM to 5 PM PST, one can attend the “Pre-Conference Symposium 4: Paper, Plastic & Fabric: New Platforms Enabling Commercialization Opportunities for Printed, Flexible, Stretchable & Functional Fabric Sensors & Sensor-Based Systems”, where you can learn from the experts in the field. The track is hosted by Roger Grace of Roger Grace Associates.

One of the expert speakers you’ll be able receive deep insights from is Prashant Agrawal, Program Manager, Thin Film Electronics at imec. Right after the opening keynote on Tuesday, June 25, Mr. Agrawal will introduce attendees to the wide world of thin film electronics for next generation IoT sensor applications.

For just a bit of background, Prashant Agrawal received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from KU Leuven, Belgium in 2015 and MS in Computers Science & Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. He is currently the Program Manager for Thin Film Electronics at Imec Belgium. Prior to this, he had been Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Imec between 2015-18 where he managed technical and business development activities and fund raising for internal ventures.  He worked as Senior R&D Engineer in the Hyperspectral Imaging Group at Imec (Belgium) between 2014-2015 and as Technical Staff Member in the HPC Group at IBM Research India between 2006-2009. He has an extensive background in a wide array of disciplines such as thin-film electronics, hyperspectral image sensors, systems & applications, machine learning, high performance computing, embedded systems, and low power VLSI. And, as if you haven’t deduced this by now, he is extremely passionate about entrepreneurship and technology commercialization.

One would be making a gross error by not taking advantage of this opportunity to learn from someone with not only the extensive qualifications for becoming successful, but the hands-on experience of being wildly successful in the field of thin-film and flexible electronics. However, to take advantage of this learning experience, you need to do two very important things:

  1. Register for Sensors Expo & Conference 2019
  2. Attend the Symposium 4: Paper, Plastic & Fabric: New Platforms Enabling Commercialization Opportunities for Printed, Flexible, Stretchable & Functional Fabric Sensors & Sensor-Based Systems At Sensors Expo & Conference 2019 in San Jose, CA, on Tuesday June 25, 2019 from 9 AM to 5 PM PST.

I’ll be there…taking attendance. Don’t be late. ~MD
