Sensor Reliably Detects Glossy Objects

Sensor Reliably Detects Glossy Objects
SICK Inc.

Boasting quick configuration and flexible settings, the company’s Glare sensor promises reliable detection of glossy objects. The sensor recognizes and differentiates objects on the basis of their gloss in order to control production processes. Analyzing the spatial distribution of reflected light using Delta-S technology allows the sensor to determine the gloss level of flat object surfaces, differentiate between objects of different gloss levels, and provide gloss identification regardless of color, labeling, or structure. Measurements are transmitted to the process controls via two digital switching outputs or IO-Link. Easily configurable in different operating modes, other features include sensitivity adjustments that increase operational safety, an integrated key lock that reduces the risk of operating errors or tampering, and advanced diagnostics.
