To help prevent algae growth, Meller’s Sapphire Optics have smooth surfaces and can withstand high water pressures for outboard applications on undersea vehicles. They exhibit Moh 9 hardness, which is second only to diamond, and can withstand water pressure up to 10,000 psi depending upon configuration.  Sapphire optics are clear and also withstand fast moving sand and salt water. They are available as windows, domes, and truncated hyperhemispheres, and can be fabricated to in sizes from 0.25” to 10” in diameter.
