TLI Series batteries from Tadiran Batteries, Lake Success, NY, are long-life rechargeable lithium-ion cells designed for use in harsh environments. The batteries have an operating temperature range of –40°C to 85°C, with storage up to 90°C; can deliver current pulses up to 5 A; have annual self-discharge rates <5%; have a 10 yr. operating life; and can charge at extreme temperatures (10 hr. rate). Batteries are recharged using DC power or they can be used with photovoltaic solar systems or other energy harvesting devices to provide long-term power. Batteries are offered in AA (1550), 1530, and 1520 sizes and in custom packs.
