The 900 MHz CH4390 FHSS transceiver for wireless sensor networks from Cermetek Microelectronics Inc., Milpitas, CA, can serve as network coordinator, remote sensor node, or repeater node. The radio uses a proprietary scheme for remote sensor networking that was developed with Sandia National Laboratories. Features include optimization for rapid synchronization, extended battery life, and max. range; SensorOnAir feature that lets the network coordinator read/control sensors and actuators connected to a remote CH4390; and support for up to five 12-bit analog inputs and 12 programmable digital I/O. Applications include process controls, infrastructure monitoring, and environmental monitoring.
