The R-GAG QT50R from Banner Engineering Corp., Minneapolis, MN, is a radar-based sensor for close- and long-range presence detection in a range of weather conditions. Frequency modulated continuous wave radar allows the sensor to reliably detect moving or stationary cars, trains, trucks, and cargo; detection range is up to 15 m, ignoring anything beyond the set point. The device is IP67 rated and operates at 24 GHz in the ISM band. Operating temperature range is –40°C to 65°C. Applications include train, tram detection and location in tunnels; access control to parking ramps and garage doors; position sensing of cranes; overheight detection for tunnels and bridges; and measuring and profiling in tollbooths.
