Questex Media to Launch Sensors China Publication

Sensors China to be first China-based publication solely focused on Sensors and Sensor Networks

NEWTON, Mass., January 10, 2006 – Questex Media announced today the launch of a new engineering publication for China called Sensors China.  The first of 5 issues scheduled for 2006 will launch in April.  The magazine will reach engineers, engineering managers and the sensors channel of distributors and systems integrators across the rapidly expanding Chinese R&D and manufacturing base that incorporate sensors in their product designs and factory automation systems.

With a circulation of 15,000 targeted in the key manufacturing and R&D centers of China and the growing sensors market expected to exceed $15 billion worldwide in 2008, Sensors China will help design and production engineers address sensor technology and design, commercial applications for sensors, and intelligent systems centered on sensor technology.

Jonathan Bigelow, Group Publisher, will spearhead the new print and online initiatives in China while continuing to drive leading publications for Questex Media including Enterprise Networks Asia and Enterprise Innovation.  In addition to his contributions at Questex Media, Bigelow played a leading role in the highly successful launch of EE Times China (then Asian Electronics Engineer) in the mid-90’s.

Beijing-based Chao Zuo will act as Editor-in-Chief of Sensors China, working closely with the editor of the U.S. – based Sensors magazine, Barbara Goode. Zuo holds a PhD in sensors technology and has been a researcher and editor for the technical papers from Beijing University of Posts & Telecommunications as well as EDN China.

“We have worked closely with China’s industry associations and relevant government bodies to put together a targeted group of readers and will sign up many more qualified readers at the Electronica China and Metex shows in March. We plan to exhibit at 10 trade shows in China this year,” said Bigelow.  “As China becomes the world’s largest electronics, communications and 2nd largest automotive production market, there is a real need in the market for a technical publication that is specific to sensor technologies.”
