Quadriga collaborates with TUI Nordics to create wearable technology

Theale, United Kingdom – Quadriga has been working alongside the TUI Group to create the world’s first wearable technology dedicated to creating a seamless holiday experience.

Dubbed the TUI Smartband, this new wearable wristband can be used to enter your hotel room, to charge purchases around the hotel, track the entire family’s holiday spending, control air conditioning and energy consumption in each room. As well as tapping into the latest technological trends that enhance the guest experience, the TUI Smartband will also leverage more sustainable tourism. Currently being tested in Blue Village Family Life, Turkey, the wristband developed by Quadriga also connected to the mobile app ‘My Holiday’, which serves as a full service and information source for more than 350,000 TUI Nordic guests. The project has also been awarded second place in Management Today’s ‘Wearables at Work’ competition beating the likes of Tesco and Barclays.

James Cannon, Regional Director for UK, Ireland and Nordics is thrilled with how the project has gone. “Quadriga are delighted to have been chosen by TUI as their technology development partner for the TUI Smartband and are proud to be working with such an innovative, bold and exciting tour operator. The TUI Smartband project not only marks a step change in terms of the guest experience but it also represents a fundamentally new way of addressing the needs of hoteliers and guests. The traditional model of purchasing ‘off the shelf’ solutions designed to meet general requirements is challenged by a far more collaborative and “outcome focused” approach where the needs of the business are front and centre of the design.”

“Quadriga are one of very few companies with the requisite experience, expertise and resources to work in this way and it is testament to our approach that the TUI Smartband project has been delivered in unprecedented timescales and has received resounding praise from both guests and industry professionals alike. Quadriga now looks forward to continuing our partnership with the TUI Group as we further enhance the guest experience and journey through the use of accessible, relevant and reliable technology.”

TUI commented, “Quadriga proved to be the right partner to develop a solution that has not existed in the market. The tenacious approach and great work ethics certainly contributed to prosperous trial. We are looking forward to see how further we can innovate together to meet future expectations of our customers.”
