The TFZ from Moore Industries-International Inc., North Hills, CA, is a programmable temperature transmitter that can be installed on the same segment with all standard Foundation fieldbus devices. The device converts a temperature sensor input to a Foundation fieldbus H1, 2-way digital communication protocol for interfacing with DCS, computer-based SCADA systems, or asset management software. Features include continuous sensor diagnostics; the ability to handle 14 RTD types, 9 thermocouple types, direct millivolt, and resistance/potentiometer inputs; 20-bit input resolution; RFI/EMI protection; ambient temperature compensation; operation for up to 5 yr. between scheduled calibrations; and (depending on sensor) an input accuracy up to ±0.1°C.
