MTS Systems Corp., Sensors Div., Cary, NC, offers the R Series analog magnetostrictive position sensor that includes fully programmable dual-channel outputs for simultaneous position and velocity, or dual magnet position, in the same compact sensor envelope. Suited for industrial applications, especially those where EMI, shock, and vibration are factors, the sensor has a 25 mm/s to 10 m/s speed range with 0.1 mm/s speed resolution. Sensors can be factory- or field-configured to provide either rate of motion magnitude only (speed) or magnitude and direction (velocity). Field programming is via handheld, DIN rail mounted, or PC-based programmers.
