Portable/Online Device Monitors Hydrocarbons In Water
Modern Water plc

Described as a portable or online crude and refined hydrocarbon monitor, PetroChek detects crude oil or refined hydrocarbon spillages that can have catastrophic consequences if left undetected. The monitor can detect hydrocarbons in freshwater and marine environments and is viable for use in a wide range of applications. These include monitoring oil spills, airport pollution run-off, detecting hydrocarbons in effluent, and ensuring water quality at treatment plants. The device uses fluorescence to identify Poly Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs), which are inherent in crude and refined hydrocarbons within both fresh and marine water systems. It is very sensitive to low hydrocarbon concentrations and suits real-time monitoring, either as a portable unit, in-situ or online with a flow cell arrangement.
