On the market since 1980, the latest generation of Bear Bones controllers, the P- Series, feature specialty function expanders and I/O expanders. The footprint is identical to the original Bear Bones, making the P-Series Bear Bones a mechanical drop-in replacement. Control features include digital and analog I/O, CAN network communication via OptiCAN, J1939 and NMEA 2000, Modbus TCP over Ethernet, LCD display, keypad, and a real time clock. Digital I/O capabilities are expandable via plug-in I/O expanders. Each I/O expander provides eight digital inputs and eight digital outputs and are available with ac or dc I/O. Up to 31 I/O expanders can interface to one controller. Typical applications for the series include material handling, machine control, remote location monitoring, engine-driven pumps, compressors, and generators.
